Temporary exhibitions halls
In 1984, Santa Mónica, a former convent, built in 1636, was declared a historic-artistic monument of national interest and converted into a center for temporary exhibitions, which is managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It was restored by the architects Helio Piñon and Albert Viaplana with the idea of using modern materials, but taking into account and integrate the architecural changes, that have been made since the seventeenth century. The most remarkable and characteristic element of Arts Santa Monica is the access through the outer ramp that allows a privileged view over the Ramblas and serves as well as a big terrace.
